Are you looking for Board Gaming Friends?

Friday, 15 September 2017  |  Russ

The Board Gaming community in seems to have some of the nicest, friendliest, honest, helpful people I have had the pleasure to meet...

I am a very shy, introverted person (until you get to know me) - I struggle talking to new people and meeting new friends. But since I discovered the world of modern, hobby board games (and dived in head first!) I have met some of the nicest people I have ever known. Since starting our YouTube channel (Board Gaming At Home), and then our store, we have been introduced to many new friends - both virtual and in person.

Not everyone has the time to start a YouTube channel, or the opportunity to start an online store, but even before this I was making friends through an amazing community on Facebook, and that's what I want to tell you about today...

Board Game Trading & Chat UK, is a community on Facebook that has been in existence for a good few years now and is constantly growing (it just passed 7,000 members). Many Facebook groups can be pretty toxic, I'm sure we've all seen that - full of trolls, spammers, con-men and generally nasty people. This group has none of that - and it has just one rule : "Don't be a d*ck"

If you've been reading this blog/news channel, you will know that I've talked quite a lot about 'Field of Games' (a board-gaming-camping weekend ) - that was borne as a result of a discussion on Board Game Trading & Chat UK.

There's more than just chat though - you can sell/trade away your unwanted games, (as well as trade/buy from others), people hook up and make real-life friends, find gaming groups, there have been occasions where members have needed help and the whole group rallies round to do what they can to help out. People also run giveaways, fund-raise for charities, you name it - if it's good, it likely happens here.

Of course, there are the occasional exceptions to the rule, but the administrators of the group do an excellent job of keeping it a safe, welcoming place to be and chat - and board-gamers are in general, really nice people.

If you're looking to meet new friends (real or virtual) I highly recommend checking the group out, you can find it at , just join up and say 'Hi', it's easy and you'll see how welcoming it is :)
